The Toyo R/T or rugged terrain is a more aggressive hybrid M/T tire. It offers excellent off road- tractions in dirt, sand, and rocks. Its design is meant to look and perform like an M/T tire with some of the advantages that the A/T tire accommodates. In the 285/70/17’s they come with deep 13.5/32’s of open channel tread block depth to give you a larger surface area in mud and snow ejection and enhanced grip to navigate many off road conditions. Though even with the larger tread blocks the optimized pattern arrangement reduces road noise for improved driving comfort. If you’re off-road often and need a tire that can perform, the R/T is a great choice, but would caution that the denser larger lug pattern will reduce fuel efficiency over a tire like the A/T III. So the R/T is a great fit for the avid off roader.
